The town of Oxford, Iowa will be celebrating its 150th birthday in 2018.  I thought it would be fun to compile some old photographs and documents regarding the history of this charming town.  Feel free to contact me if you have any photos or information to share.  My hope is that the town will be throwing some type of celebration in 2018 and we can somehow incorporate these items into their events.

It is worth noting that most records state that Oxford was laid out and plat recorded in 1868, but the Oxford, IA Centennial 1869-1969 book used 1869 as the date.  The book even acknowledges that the town was platted out in 1868 so they likely just had a delayed celebration and used ’69 for convenience. The town will be doing that again in 2019 when they celebrate the Sesquicentennial July 4, 5, & 6, 2019.

All photos come from the archives of Ralph and Myrt Thompson unless otherwise noted.
